I love the high waist and wanted to keep it unwrinkled and nice-looking, therefore I've decided to add a sturdier fusible (fusibles that I buy here in notion shops don't have a name or code or whatever, therefore you've got a photo below) and boning (for that I've added a center seam to the facing instead of cutting it on the fold).
I chose that type of boning that you can sew through, because it is practical, flexible, it keeps its shape and it doesn't need any end treatment, because it doesn't poke.
I've sewn the boning to the seam allowances with a wide zigzag
Then topstitched the seam allowances closed to one side
This is how it looks from the right side
I added lace at the lining hem, to make it look nicer. And in case the lining peaks, at least you have some nice sexy lace to show :)
And I've secured the hem of the lining to the hem of the skirt with finger-crocheted thread
And this is the facing stitched to the invisible zipper

Since I've read this tutorial (two years ago), I've only used this method!

Another fabulous creation. Will you wear the skirt to work? I wonder how comfortable the boning would be sitting down all day. It will make you sit up straight that is for sure ;))
I really like that skirt. I mentioned on my blog that I wanted to make a high waist skirt similar to the one Mandy Moore is wearing on the cover of the current Lucky magazine. I found a skirt pattern that I could modify, but I think the one you used is perfect as is. And since Vogue patterns will be on sale at JoAnn's on Columbus Day, I can easily pick up the one you used. Thanks for sharing.

Vicki, the skirt is amazingly comfy, the photos are taken after wearing it an entire day at the office - which mean sitting the entire day at a desk :)
This sew-through boning is very flexible and it molds to the body. I didn't feel there was a boning at all. But at the end of the day, I had no wrinkles or wear lines on my skirt's waist!
Great job! You did exactly what I'd do if and when I make a high-waisted skirt; interface and bone. I use interfacing in all my vintage dresses with a wide midriff piece as well.
I like that fact that your skirt is comfortable after being at work all day, too!

The blouse is a reprinted vintage pattern, Simplicity 4047 and I love it. Great pattern, great design... great everything. Can't stop loving those vintage patterns, they have such interesting construction details.
