Four knit tops

Two of them are part of my capsule wardrobe (the black and the gray one). They are Burda WOF 08/2007, top 105A, with some modifications:
  • The black top is without the collar, just the V-neck and I've added the sleeves of Burdastyle (free downloadable patterns) Idit 6003
  • The gray top has plain long sleeves (copied from my favorite knit pattern, Jalie 2449 and lengthened)

  • The purple top has the collar and the sleeves of Idit 6003 (I really liked the gathered sleeves, they make the tops a little more special and more blouse-like, not just T-shirts). All three tops are made in cotton/lycra. The gathering of the sleeves is done by serger and I've used this tip, which made it really easy. And I stabilized the necklines with 3/8 clear elastic.

Read my PR review here
  • And since I've tried the sleeves of Idit 6003, I wanted to make the entire top. And here it is, in a wool/poly interlock. Apologies for the camisole, it's not the best one for this top plus I had a black bra underneath, but the photos were taken after a very long and busy day at work and I really didn't have the energy to find another camisole and another bra.

I'm not sure I really like this Idit blouse on me... Read the PR review for Idit here.

I love sewing knit tops, they are so quick. I've cut the three first tops on Friday evening, I sewed them all Sunday. Sunday evening, I cut and sewn the Idit top. So one weekend, four new tops... not bad!

Cute! Your color choices look great on you and are perfect for this season.

I've been thinking of this pattern, but the short sleeves aren't practical in my climate until next summer unless I want to layer it over a turtleneck. I'm also not sure about the collar and was planning not to do it if I make one. I really like the seaming on the bust; different yet feminine.

Hi, Summserset and thank you! The seaming on the bust is one of my favourite details too. The same thing goes for me regarding the short sleeves (I'll be wearing them starting with May probably), that's why I've used long sleeves. The collar looks great but the collarless version (black top) looks just as nice

What a productive weekend! All tops look great on you. That leads me to another look on that pattern. I skipped it since I often have trouble with the deep necklines Burda has in its patterns...But yours seem to be perfect for work.

What a productive weekend. All the tops look great on you and your wardrobe plan is really getting there.

Thanks, Katrin and Vicki! Katrin, the top is a bit low-cut and it would be difficult to alter the neckline because of the seaming on the bust. What I did was stretch the clear elastic a bit more than usual to bring the neckline closer to my body. Plus you can always wear a cami or a shelf bra underneath (I do that with a lot of tops)

Laura, your tops are great! How efficient. I love the empire seams, that's original and cute. I remember seeing this pattern and passing it for exactly the same reason as Katrin.
You look really lovely in all those tops; my favourite is the grey one, I've had a grey top on my mind lately so that really inspires me...
You look beautiful in the IDIT top and I hope you get to like yourself in it... It's different but it works really well on your slender figure.

Finally, thank you for taking the time to take and post those pictures after your long day... This takes time and energy and I really appreciate your sharing! Merci :)

Laura, great tops, they looks fantastic on you. Thanks for reminding me of Burda Style, I forget about that wonderful resource.

Thanks, Morzel, Isabelle and Lori! That purple is a great shade indeed, I've had it in my stash for 3 years now and I've got enough left for two more tops :)
Chere Isabelle, I might get used to the Idit top, looking at the photo I think it's not that bad and with the right cami underneath... Can't wait to make Simplicity 4020, I liked your version so much (mine will not be as nice I'm afraid, because the fabric will be a solid, not a print) that I bought the downloadable version of the pattern so I could have it right a way!
Lori, Burdastyle is indeed a great resource. Not only patterns, I've browsed their how-tos as well and there are some very helpful things there!

Just keep doing wonders with your sewing machine!!

What great tops! And I didn't know about the Burda downloads (or Burda style itself), so thanks for the link!
