Yeah. Me. By the ghost of Coco Chanel :)
Carolyn from Diary of a sewing fanatic reminded me of my dream - sewing a Chanel-like jacket. See this post and this one on her blog, about sewing a Jackie Kennedy inspired suit, using the Chanel technique of quilting the lining to the fashion fabric.
And now... let me show you the exact piece that haunts me and then, I will say no more... except that I will be trying my hand at this, including the quilted lining and everything, even if my fabric is not a boucle and is not tweedy, therefore it is harder to "hide" your quilting. I did some tests and hope I can pull it off.

Laura, I'm sure you will create a wonderful piece. Looking forward to following your progress on that one :)
WOW, that is going to be beautiful!! I can't wait to see your progress!
Gak! I love it - wow, it is so you! I can't wait to see your project unfold. :) (And kudos to me for finally starting a blogger acct so I can comment on your blog, no? ;-) )
I am sure you will do a wonderful job on this one!
Thank you, it's going to be a hard task but I'm hardly waiting for it :)
Have to order Vogue 7975 for this... Mampickleljuice, you're right, it is so me.
It's going to be a fantastic piece, like all your creations! I love the pearl piping and the jacket looks so timeless and classy! I'm looking forward to following your progress on this one!
Yes, very much you. What fabric are you going to use?
Hi, Sigrid! I'm thinking the black suiting with tiny white dots that I've used for my lace-up skirt - I did some tests and it might work. But now I'm also thinking a black stretchy wool which is tweedier and might work better. I've just ordered that pattern so I have another week to decide until the pattern arrives anyway :)
Laura ~ I love this jacket and can't wait to see how you interpret it! I am glad the Jackie O Retro Suit inspired you, it was fun to make...now I just have to wait for it to get cool enough to wear!
I to am haunted by the ghost of Coco Chanel!!! I will give it try and soon. I plan on using this pattern for it. I've been rehearsing couture techniques and waiting for juuuuusssst the right momemt.... But the unthinkable happened. I walked into Mood Fabrics (from Project Runway) and there she was sitting on a chair in all her splendor. 3 maginificent yards of wool boucle from the ONE and ONLY House of Chanel. Sadly, $60 p/y would put my sewing wallet out of order for a while. Next time...
Now that is some outfit! Truly beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
